1223. S.Sgt.M.Rgh Rdr. N. ATTFIELD | 20 HUSS. (LSGC)
Sgt Major Nathaniel Attfield joined the army at Aldershot on 7th July 1875.
He later carried the unusual rank of "Rough Rider" He served for 21 years, being "at home" July 1875 to October 1885.
Although he is shown in Egypt from October 1885 to November 1887, his papers and the roll confirm he had no campaign medals issued, so the Meritorious Service Medal & Victorian L.S.G.C. represent his full entitlement. Apparently he did not serve in the required area to qualify for the Egypt medal or Khedive's Star. He was "at home" from November 1887 to his discharge in July 1896.
