Will of John Butterfield of Chertsey, Surrey, bricklayer, 30 May 1767

To daughter Kitty Butterfield, sole exec., all the remaining lease of the house that I rent of Henry Weston Esq., also all the household goods and all stock in trade of all kinds found on the premises; Kitty to pay out the said stock to Ann Living and Jane Pembroke and Mary Butler and Joanna Cox and Elizabeth Bailey one shilling apiece; to brother Thomas Butterfield of Weybridge all my working apparel; I further will that if my daughter Elizabeth Bailey should be so unfortunate as to come to want that my daughter Kitty Butterfield payeth to my said daughter Bailey two shillings and six pence per week payable every month but not except she wants; if Kitty dies without issue then the remaining part of the lease at her death to Elizabeth Bailey my daughter; Kitty shall not be in power of the said lease of the house until after her mother's death or her mother's consent in her life; as for my funeral, bury me in as plain a manner as possible.

Codicil added 17 Aug 1767. If my wife Ann Butterfield should not agree with my daughter Kitty Butterfield after my decease or if my wife should in any ways alter her condition then my further will is she quits these premises and lives upon her jointure and that my daughter Kitty shall be in full power and sole possession of all my dwellings.
