The last Will and Testament of me Dorothy Stevens of Wokeing in the County of Surry Widow I desire to be buried at the Discretion of my Executors hereafter named And as to what Worldly Estate Almighty God hath been pleased to bless me with I dispose thereof as follows In the first place I give to Elizabeth Stevens the Widow of my late Son Thomas Stevens ffive Guineas to Elizabeth Gill her mother Two Guineas and to John Snelling my Shopman if living with me at my Death Ten Guineas I Give to my Son in Law Thomas Howard the Sum of One hundred pounds in full Satisfaction of what may remain due him for or on Account of the Share of my Daughter his late Wife out of the Personal Estate of my late Husband James Stevens deceased or my late Son James Stevens deceased In Case he will agree to Accept the same as such full Satisfaction All the Rest and residue of my Personal Estate after Payment of my Debts my said Legacies and ffuneral Expenses I Give and bequeath unto my nephew Joseph Roake Son of my Brother Joseph Roake to my said Son in Law Thomas Howard and Jeremiah Howard of Wokeing aforesaid Timber Merchant In Trust nevertheless and to and upon the Several Trusts Uses intents and Purposes hereinafter mentioned (that is to say) In the first place to Sell and Dispose of the whole of my personal Estate and Convert the Same into Money as soon after my Decease as the same can be Conveniently done and then make up and Sell what Shall be the residue in their hands after Payment of my Debts Legacies and ffuneral Expenses And as to ffour hundred pounds part thereof to put place and keep the same at Interest together with the Produce thereof from time to time on Such Government or other Annuityes as they shall think best until my Grand Daughter Elizabeth Howard Shall attain her Age of Twenty one years and at that Age pay the said principal and Interest to my said Grand Daughter And as to one Third of the Remainder thereof to put place and keep the same at Interest together with the Produce thereof from time to time on Such Government or other Annuitys as they shall think best until my Grandson Thomas Howard Shall attain the Age of Twenty one years and at that Age pay the said principal and Interest to my said Grandson Thomas Howard And as to the Remaining Two Thirds of my personal Estate to put place and keep the same at Interest from time to time until my Grandson Thomas Howard Shall attain his Age of Twenty one years and to pay such principal and Interest to my said Grandson John Howard at his said Age of Twenty one years And in Case any or either of my said Grandchildren shall happen to Dye before his her or their Legacy or Legacys shall become payable leaving a Child or children then such Child or children to stand and be in the place of his her or their ffather or Mother But in Case any or either of them shall so happen to Dye without Issue I Then Direct that the legacy or Legacies and the Interest thereof of him her or them so dying shall go and be paid to the Survivor or Survivors of them my said Grandchildren at the time his her or their own Legacy or Legacies Shall become payable And in Case all or any of my said Grandchildren shall happen to dye before his her or their Legacy or Legacies shall become payable not having either of my said Grandchildren or the Issue of them or either of them to take by Survivorship the part or Share of him her or them so Dying my Will is that there to be paid the Sum of ffive pounds part of such Legacy or Legacies to Mary Gunner my Sisters Daughter And that the Residue thereof be Divided equally between my nephew Joseph Roake and my said Son in Law Thomas Howard their Executors Admors and Assigns My Will also is that neither of my said Trustees shall be answerable for the other of them or for the Heirs Executors Admors Acts Deeds or Defaults of the other of them but each for his own Executors Admors Acts Deeds and Defaults nor either of them for any Money that shall happen to be lost by means of any Security or Securities to be taken for the same proving deficient or by Depositing the same in the hands of any Banker or other person for Safe Custody unless the same shall happen by his or their Wilful Neglect or Default I make the said Joseph Roake Thomas Howard and Jeremiah Howard Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former and other Wills by me at any time heretofore made In Witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament contained in two Sheets of Paper set my hand to the first sheet and my hand and Seal to the last sheet this Twenty Ninth day of July in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Sixty one Dorothy Stevens Signed Sealed Published and Declared by the said Testatrix as and for her last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have subscribed our names as Witnesses thereto in the presence of the said Testatrix Richd Goater, H J Chatfield.
